This week can't end fast enough

Well. Tuesday morning is here and the move was pretty much a big success. There were a few hiccups but nothing major.

Now I'm sitting on a plane bound for LA. Still mo status so middle seat on a cross country flight. Once I use my credit on United it will be American all the way out of Reagan. The drive out to Dulles pretty much sucks.

Lets hope that next week isn't in LA too. Although I just checked the weather and it is supposed to be beautiful this week.

DC Bound

At LAX headed to DC. The moment has finally came and it is pretty sad. I am rally going to miss the southbay. It has been my home for a combined 8 years and has taken pretty good care of me.

Got a little teared up when I had to say good buy to my roommate Teresa. It has been an awesome year and a half and quite the victory tour over the last 2 weeks. Good buy to LA until Tuesday when I'll be back for work.

I get the key to my place at 12:30 tomorrow. Look for a big post on Tuesday. I hope to have lots of pictures from my now home.

Back to LA

Just boarded my flight to LA. This was actually a pretty good week. Productive, not super stressful, and we did dinner in south beach. Now I need to get ready for 4 cross country flights in 1 week.

YUCK!

So close to closing.

Today I got the last of my documentation in for my loan. I am still on track for a Monday close. Still lots to do though like set up utilities and find movers to help me carry stuff up the stairs.

This weekend is going to be a blur though. I will be in LA until Sunday morning and back in LA on Tuesday.

What a weekend

Wow, what a weekend! This turned out to be a really good one. I wouldn't have wanted my send off weekend to be any different.

Friday was a full day. It started off with a 2 hour work called in the morning, and ended up with all my belongings packed into an 8x8 cube. My dad got here around noon to help me move. Honestly I don't know if I would've been able to do it without his help. Having the right person help you move is so important. With the right help you can knock it out no time at all. After we were done packing my cube, we went by Home Depot to buy additional lock. While we were there we ended up getting my birthday present. It is a very nice circular saw that I'm sure will go to good use in the new place. After I finished packing, friday night was pretty mellow. I ended it up staying home with the roommate and ordering pizza. Honestly after a long week it's exactly what I needed.

Saturday was it all about the party. And what a party it was! Had the keg by 9 AM. Spent the rest of the morning getting ready to host. The beer started flowing around 2 o'clock in the keg was dead by five. After a collection, we made a run down to the liquor store and got restocked. I guess I had a little bit too much fun hanging out in the trunk with all that beer. The party was a huge success, it was great to see all my friends come and Enjoy what Manhattan Beach is all about. It was a pretty good mix of people too, I had some friends from Northrop, friends from high school, and all my El Porto neighbors and my sister and new brother in law. I did end up drinking a little bit too much. But hey, go out with a bang.

Today I woke up with a pretty wicked hangover. But it went away pretty quick when my mom showed up to celebrate my birthday and the move. We got Mexican food, did a little bit of shopping, and got in some good old-fashioned catching up. All and all it ended up being a pretty awesome day which capped off an awesome weekend.

It doesn't quite feel like it yet, but I know a new chapter has started. I'm looking forward to the new adventures that are coming and Im sure it's going to be a fun ride. Now it's about time to head to the airport for my redeye to Miami. Which most likely won't be that fun of a ride

It's going to be a wild week of travel

Let me break down my travel schedule for this upcoming week. At the beginning of last week I thought I would be in CA. On Wednesday I was told it would be MIA so I put a hold on a flight. On Thursday it changed to New Jersey so I canceled my hold on MIA and book to EWR. Last night I was told that we should be going to MIA so I had to cancel New Jersey and book MIA.

And that's only half the story. Next Friday I have training in LA then I am flying to DC for a wedding on Saturday and the Closing of my condo on Monday. God only knows where I will be that following Tuesday. If I had to guess I would go with CA.

Test Time:

Q. What does my travel schedule look like for the next 9 days?

A. LAX->MIA->LAX->DCA->TBD. All in 9 days!

On the bright side I have a keg in my garage right now and the sun is out at the beach! Cheers!

Moving Escrow

Just talked to my agent.  We are going to move escrow.  Now all I have to do is figure out shipping.

Also, It looks like the next 5 weeks of my project will be in LA.  Ironic... don't you think.

Stress, Stress, Stress

Lots of stress, here's why:

Last night I figured out that I have mandatory work training in LA on April 26, the day I am supposed to close escrow.  I have some calls out and it looks like I can't get around it.  Right now I am playing phone tag with my real-estate agent to see if I can push the close out a week.  This would mean that I would have to do something for my move also.  I will have to either push the move out a week or just ship my stuff this week and have them store it for me.  I need to get this all nailed down today/

DC to LA

I just found out we will be working the last 5 weeks of my project out of LA. Not sure I feel about that seeing as I will be moving all my stuff to DC on Friday.

Sunday, April 14, 2013

It's about 11 pm on Sunday and I am sitting in the united terminal waiting for my red eye flight. In my run to get out of the house I forgot to pack my over the counter sleeping pills. I am am really tired righ now so I don't really think falling asleep on the plane will be an issue. On the bright site I am in an emergency exit row. On the down side I am in the middle seat. I guess with the good comes the bad. I figure by the end of this project I should have status on united. I can't wait for free upgrades to business class.

This weekend was a very productive one. The highlight was that I got to see my sisters. Jennifer came through LA on Friday night. We hung out for two hours and got dinner. On Saturday Stefanie made the trip down with Nate and the kids. We went to the Santa Monica pier. Samantha got to ride the Ferris wheel and it was all around a good day. Then i saw katie in the security line as i arived at the airport. She was late for her flight back to slo but it coll to see her all the same. It rounded out the weekend i guess. I am very lucky to have both of my sisters visit in the same weekend.

Today I spent pretty much the whole day packing. I think I got about 90% of the way there. Most of my stuff is boxed. I think I need to get the furniture out of the house to finish up the rest. It is all moveing so fast that I haven't had much time to hink about it. Although I did get a bit emotional today when I was talking to my mom. I guess that's going to happen as the move gets closer, or maybe after I get there. It's goin to be the only time I've lived by myself minus my first six months in San Bernardino. I guess that's the way it works. Get a new job and live by your self.

Also, for those of you who don't know Tuesday is my bday. Keep your fingers crossed for me that I get to leave the office before midnight. I plan on scheduling a dinner to help my cause.

Well time to board. Here's to a good week.

EDIT.

So I just sat in my seat and I'm stuck between 2 pretty big guys. Here's to a cozy flight.

More Hours

We've settled into our rhythm for my current project.  In at 8 am, out at around 11pm.  Honestly I am not sure how sustainable this type of schedule.  The reality is it affects the quality of work which you can see across the team.  I have talked to some of the more senior consultants and while they say they normally work hard, this does not seem to be the standard.  I am staffed on this project through the end of May so 6 more weeks at this pace I guess.  This whole process has begun to for my impression about the good and bad.  Most of which I am not going to share here.

The move

On the DC move front, my move is scheduled.  My Manhattan Beach apartment will be cleared by the 19th and all my stuff should be in DC the following Friday ready for me to move it in.  This whole process has been going so fast that there really hasn't been much time to sit back and appreciate it.  Hopefully once the move is complete and all the move stuff is off of my plate I will have a chance to look back.  Once I do I am sure I will be sad to no longer be in MB but excited for what lies ahead in DC.

Schedule

It has been really nice to be working out of LAX this week.  It really helps to be able to come home after a long day and rummage through the fridge and wake up in your own bed.  Next week I will be off to New Jersey again.  It will be the red eye out on Sunday night and back to LA on Thursday.  Tuesday is my 32nd Bday,  Friday is a packing day, Saturday is my going away party, then back to NJ the following week I am assuming. Also, I need to figure out when I am going to sale my car too.  I am guess this weekend or next.

Long Hours

It has been a long week and it is only Tuesday.  Yesterday was about a 19 hour day.  Not sure if I've ever done one of those before.  It's been a little bit of  an up and down ride for myself and the other new associate.  Oh well, it's hard to tell if this project is normal given it's my first project.  Things are a bit frantic and at times not very organized.  I think a little organization would be a big benefit.

On the bright side, I may be in CA again next week.  Let's hope we get out of here soon, it's currently 8:15.  I'm not counting on it though.....

Lax to SFO

WORK

It's Tuesday and I am on my way to SF through Thursday. Yesterday we were at Lax which was both interesting and very productive. After getting inputs from the GMs I feel much more comfortable that we will be able to reach our goal. There is still a lot of work to do over the next few weeks and I will be in charge of creating financial values for our findings.

Looking forward for this week we will be at SFO today and Thursday as well SJC on Wednesday. It will be a full week but I think the aftermath and upcoming analysis will be much more intense.  Lots to do and not much time. On the bright side, I will be learning a tone which is why I signed up for this. Well the and the nice salaries bump.

HOUSING

The home purchase has been moving along too. We have all ready released two contingencies. The condo docs and the inspection. The condo docs were not ideal. I wish they had a bit more cash on hand. Last year they got them selves into a law suit and painted the exterior of the building which drew down the reserves. There isn't an assessment planned for this year but I will
have to keep an eye out for 2014.   The inspection went much better which is not surprising considering the place was gutted in 05. The only thing the guy could find was that the AC was missing a filter. He reviewed the unit and common systems. Up next is the appraisal contingencies. I hope to have the loan ap in the week so we can get that ordered. Also I need to figure out when and how I will move my stuff. Right now I am thinking I will be packing up on Friday the 19th so that I can move in the following Friday.

Lots to do!

The was writen onmy phone in the plane so don't judge the typing skills.
